It’s Primary Day!  Were you one of the 22,000 people who voted early?  If not, get thee to the polls today!  If you do not know where your voting location is, DC Board of Elections has a handy online tool for you to find out.  You can also check to see if you are registered here and see a sample ballot here.  It’s been an interesting election season in DC  and I, for one am ready to see it end.  And I have to say, the pile of door hangers and leave-behinds from all of the candidate’s teams roaming the neighborhood makes me wonder how serious any of them are when it comes to their environmental platforms…but that’s just the cynic in me.  On to my much-needed cup of coffee and round up of exciting links for the week.

  • We’re getting a new Vietnamese restaurant, Ba Bay, in the spot that used to house Locanda.  Metrocurean has details here and here, as does Prince of Petworth, and Going Out Gurus.
  • JD Land and the Washington City Paper’s Housing Complex reported that Eleanor Holmes Norton put her support behind the Virginia Avenue Community Garden in the face of the Marine’s CIMP expansion, but may have not done much research into the other “open” lots, as she suggested one that is slated to be a community center.
  • Frozen Tropics shared information on the Todem Poles coming to 3rd and H Streets NE.
  • The Examiner interviewed Shaaren Pine, co-owner of the Argonaut.
  • DCist and Prince of Petworth have more on “Signgate.”
  • 365 Things To Do in DC interviewed Margaret Holwill, one of the lead organizers of H Street Festival (and yes, my mom) on the history of H Street and the festival.
  • On its blog, CHAMPS announced some changes to the Circulator route on DC.  The Union Station stop has been moved from the parking garage to the circle (yea!) and a few stops have been added and taken away.
  • TBD reported that a new Art Bus will link galleries on U Street and H Street.
  • JD Land reported on a group of parents advocating to have the Van Ness School re-opened.
  • Spotted: Lady Gaga at Bikram Yoga on H Street.
  • City Paper discussed the chicken bone issue and the proposed 7-11 on H Street.
