We’re still waiting for these two new places (Chesapeake Room on Barracks Row and Biergarten Haus on H St. NE) to open up. Biergarten Haus’s opening is delayed again, and their plan to open this weekend has been delayed once more. The tweet that DCRA sent out earlier letting us know that a power outage is affecting applications today doesn’t really inspire confidence that their issues will be solved soon, but I’m crossing my fingers for next weekend!
The Chesapeake Room is expecting to be open around June 1. I’ve heard rumors of a soft opening this weekend, so it sounds like things are on track. I had the opportunity to attend an event there last week and although no food was served from the kitchen, the space is fantastic. The awning-covered outdoor space is going to be the place to be on Barracks Row this summer. I’ve got really high hopes for this spot and for its owner’s fourth Barracks Row venture, in the soon to be vacant Capitol Hill Vet Clinic, to be called Senart’s Oyster House.
Wait, what is happening to the vet clinic? That is where I take my dog, and I have heard nothing of it closing!!!
Oh, they’re definitely leaving this summer. Dr. Murphy published a note in the HillRag. Last I heard (few weeks ago) they still hadn’t found a new space.
I’d much rather have my vet than yet another restaurant on 8th street. I like that there are a lot of choices now, but I liked useful retail/services as well.
