Monday Morning Circle Time

Good Morning! If you have just returned from vacation I hope reading this will help ease the transition back into reality. If you have yet to go this can help you keep track of the days/weeks until you take off and if you have no real vacation plans to speak of…well then read on about beach trips and cocktails with as much jealousy as you need to muster to face another week.

Nichole: Beers on the roofdeck at Trusty’s on Friday night. Hopped the river to picnic and watch fireworks for Alexandria’s birthday on Saturday (this is an awesome event, if you’ve never been!). Sunday I went to the Market with friends and then cooked up our purchases for dinner!

Robert: Spent Saturday morning helping set up the Friends of the SE library book sale, then gave a tour of DC, then drove up to Baltimore to find a new tub at Second Chance, Inc. Sunday was spent getting ready for my trip that starts tomorrow, Sunday evening BBQing in the back yard with neighbors.

Kyra:  I spent the weekend maxing out the grid by taking in as much AC as I could stand. Thanks, Pepco.

Jon: We spent Saturday battling torrential downpours and horrendous traffic from DC to the Outer Banks of North Carolina.  Surviving that trek, we enjoyed Sunday on the beach and plan to do the same for the rest of the week.  We are also enjoying a vacation to a house with central air conditioning.

Maria: Started off the weekend with cocktails at Wisdom; spent quality purgatory time at IKEA on Saturday; and screamed feverishly rooting for the Spanish guapos on Sunday.

Jen: I drove up to NJ for the jillionth time to both participate in a bridal shower for my sister and to deposit my two boys with their grandparents for the week. I ate more bagels and pizza than is wise and spent a few hours at the beach on Sunday (Sea Girt-a classy, non-trashy Shore destination. No boardwalk or Snookies in sight) before heading back down 95. I can report the new Delaware rest stop is airy and fancy and quite relaxing. If only driving through the state was the same.

Scott: Two words. World Cup.

Claudia: I checked out the great new roofdeck at Trusty’s on Friday night with Nichole.  On Saturday morning I had breakfast at Ted’s Bulletin and then got a tour of Jon Wye‘s local workshop where he got his start making his popular belts and t-shirts.  Sunday was spent with a drink in hand floating down the river in an inner-tube, one of my favorite ways to spend a hot summer day.

I must know, Claudia, what river?

  2. @erika – we were on the Shenandoah & Potomac Rivers near Harpers Ferry. It’s about an hour away but the perfect way to spend a hot summer day!
