Happy Emancipation Day!

The DC Government is closed today in observation of Emancipation Day, which means several city services — such as parking enforcement — are suspended, but only in parts of the city.  The best is when this holiday falls on a Monday, giving DC residents a two-day extension on filing their taxes.  Alas, we don’t get that luxury every year so I hope you got your filing taken care of yesterday!

So here’s what you need to know about what services and enforcement have NOT been suspended today: While rush hour lane restrictions will not be enforced through the majority of the city, rush hour lane changes on 16th Street NW, Connecticut Avenue NW, Canal Road NW, and Independence Avenue on Capitol Hill will be treated as normal rush hours.

Also note that while parking meters are free in most of the city today, parking regulations will be enforced around Nationals Park because of today’s 7:05 pm game.

Trash will be collected as scheduled today, but street and alley cleaning will be suspended, as well as city-wide parking enforcement, except for around Nationals Park.  Find out more about what services have and have not been suspended here, here.
