Recognizing Capitol Hill's Remarkable Women Part 2

This is the second in a series of guest posts by Sandra Moscoso, featuring a few of Capitol Hill’s sheroes — remarkable women — in honor of Women’s History Month.  Today’s post features Barbara Percival.  You can read the first post, featuring Laurie Siegel, here.

Barbara Percival – Master gardener, educator, forward-thinker. Barbara’s volunteer work started as a way to get involved in her childrens’ school (Watkins Elementary) and help out where possible. She found her niche in the schoolyard garden and has been at it for over 15 years (note her children have been alumni for over a decade). Together with teachers, Barbara finds ways to incorporate the garden into to the classroom. Currently, she is developing a partnership with FoodPrints program with FRESHFarms markets. Who is Barbara’s shero? Stuart-Hobson history teacher Amy Trenkle, who according to Barbara, ‘reaches children where they are and brings them to their full potential.’
