As Bad as it Looks: Structural Damage Due to Heavy Rains

November 14th, 2009 by Kate McFadden · 2 Comments · New Hill East

On Friday afternoon a DC Text Alert went out about a structurally unsound building being evacuated due to the effect of heavy rains on the property. From the looks of it, the property, at 15th and A Streets Northeast Southeast, was in bad shape to begin with. Neighbors at Cutz on the Hill Barbershop said no evacuations were necessary. They said the DC Fire and Emergency observed the brick exterior wall sagging and knocked it down to avoid a more dangerous situation.

The signing on the building indicates the property belongs to the Community Action Group (CAG), a 501(c)(3) non-profit group associated with the Holy Trinity- St Cyprian Roman Catholic Church. The community group, winner of one of Capitol Hill Community Foundation’s Community Leadership awards, is a lay ministry that focuses on offering hope and deliverance to homeless individuals struggling with alcohol and drug abuse.
