One of my favorite things about Thanksgiving in DC is how quiet the city is. My office is a ghost town, there’s no traffic on the roads (well the city roads, I hear I95 is a mess), I can get a seat on Metro, the city becomes a quiet oasis. And it’s the start of the holiday party season. I expect next week’s Hill Buzz to be a bit quieter, and The Hill is Home will likely be taking a break at the end of the week as we all recover from food comas. So enjoy your Turkey Day, weekend of shopping and family & friend time! And without further ado, here is some light reading to distract you from that last bit of work you need to finish before taking off for your long weekend.
- We Love DC, DCist, and Urban Turf announced that our new street cars are en route from the Czech Republic.
- Greater Greater Washington shared pictures of the Trinidad Car Barn.
- The Capitol Hill BID reminded us that the new plastic bag tax is going into effect on December 1.
- We Love DC shared the rumor that the Trapeze School that has been set up temporarily downtown may be coming to Southeast, by the ballpark.
- DC Metrocentric looked at the effect of H Street construction on the businesses on the corridor, and reported that it may not be over until 2011.
- Frozen Tropics let us know that we can get $2 shots of Wild Turkey at The Pug on Thanksgiving. We’re working on a full list of specials around the Hill that we’ll share with you tomorrow…
