My candy hangover has continued longer than usual this year as we ended up with far too many leftovers of all of my favorite sugary treats. But it was worth it for such a fun weekend. Did you make it out for anything besides trick-or-treating? What was your favorite Hill event?
- Thriller on H Street, which drew a very impressive crowd, was recommended as weekend picks by DCist and We Love DC. I’d say roughly 100 people performed, while many more watched from the sidelines. Frozen Tropics and Famous DC both linked to videos of the rehearsal and actual performance, and you can see plenty of pictures in our Flickr group, as well as another video of the performance below.
- JD Land shared information about the city’s plans for the old Washington Star Plant at 225 Virginia Avenue.
- City Paper’s Young & Hungry, We Love DC, and DCist reported the temporary closing of The Argonaut, due to what seems to be a mix up with the DC Office of Tax & revenue. According to a few local business owners, errors on the part of the city are far too common.
- Remember the drama surrounding the closing of Murky Coffee in early 2008? The owner “forgot” to pay his taxes. The City Paper is reporting that he has been formally booked and is facing up to 40 years in jail for it.
- Inspiration DC shared her love for Hill’s Kitchen.
- And yours truly attended the “Brunch for the Lazy” cooking class at Hill’s Kitchen, and shared the delicious lessons learned and recipes on brunch and the city.
** Do you have great Capitol Hill photos, like the ones above? If so, please add them to our Flickr group!
