Police have arrested 17- year-old Jeffrey Britt for the shooting murder of George Rawlings, who was gunned down while boarding a bus on H Street NE last week, the DC Metropolitan Police Department announced today. The arrest was made Nov. 13th in Landover, Md.
Britt, of no fixed address, was charged with first degree murder while armed, pursuant to an arrest warrant in the death of Rawlings. Mr. Britt is being charged as an adult under Title 16 of the District of Columbia Official Code.
Background supplied by First District police: At approximately 11:45 am on Wednesday, Nov. 11, officers responded to the 1300 block of H Street, NE , to investigate the report of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers found 21-year-old Rawlings on the step of a Metrobus, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Mr. Rawlings was transported to an area hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
