H St. Country Club Calls on Gina Chersevani to Tweak Cocktail Menu

Fellow THIHer Claudia and I spent Friday night at the H Street Country Club sampling their new cocktail menu courtesy of Gina Chersevani – the brains behind PS7’s brilliant drink options.

Since the Country Club opened, I’ve always been a huge fan of their cocktails (HSCC makes the best frozen margarita in the city, bar none.  On Friday, Ricardo explained that it’s because they use fresh ingredients (no nasty sour mix here) and they add the booze to your drink AFTER the slushy base is poured) but Gina’s additions have upped the ante on H Street.

It’s a popular trend to rip on DC for being a second-class city when it comes to dining, but our bartenders have made sure the same cannot be said for our cocktails.  H Street Country Club is no exception.  Gina has added drinks like the In the Rough (Ketel One Vodka, Maraschino liqueur, pineapple juice, fresh sours & a dash of cherry bitters) and the In the Hole (Coconut water mixed with Captain Morgan, pineapple & lime juice, finished with a dash of soda) and improved upon some of HSCC’s classics like my favorite, the El Luchador (Sauza Tres Generaciones Tequila & fresh lemon & lime juice, muddled with cilantro & jalapeño pepper) and the Mr. Hendricks, which further convinces me that I need to continue my summer-long embrace of Hendricks Gin.

I am an unabashed fan of the Country Club.  (Even if I wish they’d make the roof a place to play cornhole, rather than another 9 holes of mini golf.)  The tweaking of the drinks menu just reaffirms my love of this place.  We’re lucky to have such a fun and unique spot on the Hill!

  1. SG says:

Why would it be considered a second-class dining city? Compared to what, NYC? Surely it’s top 10 in the US…

  2. Nichole says:

@SG – I didn’t say that I thought it was, but surely you’ve read blog posts (and the subsequent comments) and other articles making that assertion.

Personally, I think DC is a great dining city.
