I don’t know about you, but I’m getting a little antsy about the fast approach of September. This time of year generally has me thinking it’s time to buy some notebooks, a new lunchbox and back to school clothes. Well, there’s no need to consult Seventeen anymore, but the “new school year” is a good excuse to get myself organized. That always seems to create a lot of trash. And it’s generally trash that could be considered “risky.”  Thank you DCPW for the recent list serve reminder of the great shredding service they offer:

DPW provides shredding services every Saturday at no charge to District residents.  The shreddings take place at both the Ft. Totten Trash Transfer Station (4900 Bates Road, NE) and the Benning Road Station (3200 Benning Road, NE) from 8 am – 3 pm.  District residents may bring up to five, medium-sized boxes (no larger than the standard District recycling bin, which is approximately 20” x 14” x 14”) of personal papers to be destroyed. Only paper (staples, paper and binder clips are okay) and unwanted or expired credit cards will be accepted. No business or commercial material will be accepted.
