Community Meeting on Eastern Market Metro Plaza Tonight

There will be a community meeting tonight to unveil a set of three proposals for reconfiguring the plaza around the Eastern Market Metro stop on Pennsylvania Avenue.  Some of these propose reconnecting the original square, and re-routing Pennsylvania Avenue around the square or circle.

If you would like to see the proposals and offer feedback, come to St Peter’s Church Parish Hall, located at 313 2nd Street SE – enter on C Street tonight at 7pm.

Additionally, you can learn more about the project at Capitol Hill Town Square’s website.  According to their website, the three choices include plans for: the task force advising the design team on the project set guidance for the three alternatives:

  • existing roadbeds to remain;
  • increasing parking; some increase of contiguous park space;
  • maximizing contiguous park space.

This project, which was started in March of 2008, is now reaching its final phase.  After community input this month, they will move forward on government review and implementation.
